Draw around your farm or a field and the model is cut to that outline. Click a plot to show its handles: drag a square to move a corner, or a round handle to add one. Press Delete to remove the plot you are editing.

Map features

Mark things on the map to build them into the model. Buildings, fields, woodland, ponds and yards are closed outlines. Ponds, lakes and yards are levelled and cut slightly into the surface. A field shows its area in the middle, and prints it as raised lettering on the model. Hedges, fences, walls, streams, rivers, roads and tracks are open lines. Trees are single clicks. Click a finished one to edit its points, and press Delete to remove it.

Add GeoTIFF elevation files, such as the Environment Agency's 1 m LIDAR Composite DTM for England. They replace the global terrain wherever they cover the frame. Use a DTM (bare ground) while Buildings is on.

Coloured sidesShows the sides of hedges, fences, walls and buildings in the colour picked in their menu, in the preview, the coloured OBJ and the 3D viewer. The STL stays one colour. Buildings from OpenStreetMapOff by default. Mark your own buildings instead. Flat seaClamps anything below 0 m. Turn off for land below sea level.

Hidden joints between piecesWhen the model is split, cuts a bow-tie slot across each join on the back. Print the keys with the button below and press them in. Nothing shows from the front. Needs a base of 3 mm or more. Slot in the back for the standCuts a small pocket in the back of the STL and OBJ so the model clips onto the stand. Split models get a pocket in each piece, either side of the middle.

Fit of stand and keys

The STL is one colour. The coloured OBJ comes with the satellite image, for full-colour printers and 3D software. The 3D viewer is one web page you can keep, email or open without internet, to turn the model around on screen. Draw a plot to see the image on the model.
